Garden Tour/Herb Walk

Do you like to garden? Would you like some new encouragement? What about herbs—do you know what grows best in Florida? Come spend a few hours in our Potager garden where we mix beauty with design, edible with ornamental. There is no better time of the year to walk through a garden than in May—the flowers are blooming, the vegetables are producing, and the herbs are at their peak. There is no other place on earth where you can go and utilize all five of your senses. There are pinks, purples, reds, yellows and greens to behold with your eyes. Of course you must take time to stop and smell the roses—but the smells don’t stop there. Pinch off a leaf of chocolate mint, oregano or thyme. Try a leaf of Mexican Tarragon that smells of licorice. You can always find something to nibble on from the vegetable patch—or maybe you might like to chew on a sprig of parsley or a leaf of spearmint. Then there is always that fresh glass of apple mint or lemon grass tea. There are the ribbed leaves of the plantain, the fuzzy leaves of the mullein, and the sticky leaves of cleavers. That leaves just one sense left—sound. There is no sweeter sound than the warbling of the song birds, and the wind rustling in the leaves—or the crunch of a fresh carrot when you bite into it. So come and walk with me through the gardens on Saturday, May 18, from 1:00 to 3:00 and learn about 20 plus different herbs—when to plant them, when to harvest them, and how to use them.
